Learning Module 8

Learning Module Eight
DUE SATURDAY 4/2  BY NOON
Look up some of the videos discussed in this week’s readings.  In two paragraphs, discuss what it means to "flip the scripts" of hetero-masculine sexual dominance? How does this also relate to re-appropriation and counter-appropriation?  Who has the power to set the patterns for dominant forms of representation in the music industry and Why? (use “intersectionality” in your analysis)
Next find a couple of videos that demonstrate what you would consider to be empowering to the women (and men) involved in them (as well as those viewing them), especially in relation to what you observed and learned from the film Dreamworlds 3).  Provide the name of the videos and in 2 paragraphs explain how female artists are using their messages, language, bodies, etc. toward greater gender empowerment?

  1. To “flip the script” of hetero-masculine sexual dominance we as women would have to put ourselves in a dominant sexual position above men. The problem with this is society’s view of a sexually dominating woman usually tends to categorize her as a “slut” or “ho.” This would relate to re-appropriation by changing societies view on this issues and rather allowing men to control women’s sexual desire by making them inferior and if they try to break that mold degrading the woman until they go back to the way the man is most comfortable. As a society we would have to change the terms we use so freely like the words “slut” and “ho” Not only would we have to teach men not to use these words against women but other women would have to refrain from using these put downs as well.
Men have the most influence in the way of re appropriation. Men need to stand up for the women they are around and view them as an individual and not an easily replaced item for their using. The more men we see stand up for women the more the change will influence every. At the same time women need to stand up for their own rights and be cautious of the situations they put themselves in because it is more difficult for a man to take the stand against using women as video hos if the women keep putting themselves in the video portraying these types of images.

Although this video is listed as an empowerment to women, it serves as both. Featured in this video are both male and female leaders who have been public figures for much of their lives. The amazing part about these people is the way they carry themselves. This video shows you how uplifting people can be when put in situations where they really show their true colors. All of these people have been met with adversity but all have found a way to handle it with grace and were able to give back to others through their experience.
Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., John Tavolta and Lance Armstrong are a few of the men featured in this film. While all of these men come from different back grounds and have different stories to tell these are the men who our youth should be looking up to as positive roles models. Hellen Keller, Hillary Clinton, Brandi Chastain, Oprah and Susan B. Anthony are some of the women featured in this film. All of these women are known for what they have accomplished. They are not known for flaunting their bodies all over television but they are known for flaunting their minds, ideas and showing young girls the ways to accomplish many different things that will not have the opportunity to fade with age. The way they carry themselves and the people they associate themselves with speaks volumes of the person they are. They are able to give back to their communities and uplift people rather than degrade and tear them down. I thought this video was one of the best shedding light on the positives of both men and women in leadership positions. These are the videos we need to be showing our children.

  2. @Ambre- I completely agree that in order to change the idea of hetero-masculine sexual dominance that we as women would have to be willing to tell men that is is not ok to use images or words that are degrading to us. I also agree that strong and influential women as the ones you've mentioned, are images of women that we should see in our media. If these women were in videos and on covers of magazines it could greatly change not only how the male sees women, but how women will see and start to value ourselves.

  3. After the readings, watching the film “Dreamworlds,” and looking at some of the videos mentioned in the assignments, male sexual dominance stood in the forefront of themes. I found it very hard, as a consumer, to accept the fact that the messages portrayed in these videos were less that empowering to women. I think that for so long I have, like many others, given into the fact that sex sales and have become mildly unaware to what degree some people are willing to go in order to make those sales. It is a huge part of our culture and society. These music videos and the themes presented in them help to shape how we live, how we dress, and how we interact with one another. It wasn’t until I saw the footage from the parade that took place in New York, that I realized how these images that we see everyday can really come into play in our everyday lives.
I think that in order to “flip the script” of hetero-masculine sexual dominance we would first have to point out ways that this is damaging to women in all aspects of our lives. When we as females give into this idea that the man has complete power over our bodies, we are setting that example for many generations to come. We are saying that we are weak, dependent, and unable to be strong and think for ourselves. I think that re-appropriation relates in the sense that in the past, the idea of being a housewife, and a mom, and a lover to your husband was all that was expected of women. Women were only viewed for sex…for pleasure to their husband to produce children. In these videos the women are strong business women, or political leaders, or social activists that we have become but rather modern tales of how we are nothing more than sex. I believe that right now, the white male executive running these production companies hold the power in the patterns of dominance we see in music videos. I think that it would take women to realize that male dominance is not ok in order for things to change. If no women were willing to give into these ideas then these production companies would have no choice but to change the direction of their representations. I believe that intersectionality comes into place when we consider that in these videos women are clearly being exploited, however, in music videos of rap and hip-hop artists we see the black male as a drunk and often violent character as we learned was often a depiction of the black man in our past. So not only is this an issue of gender equality but also an issue of race.
In the video, “I Am Not My Hair,” by Indie Arie featuring Akon, none of the representations that we saw in the “Dreamworld” video are present. I find this song to be very empowering. The message is saying that despite what is socially accepted it is ok to be who you are. No matter what race you or and no matter how you decide to wear your hair or dress, none of it defines you. I think that this video is empowering to black people especially because it features both a black male and female, neither of which are half naked or drunk, but rather giving a positive message to the black community, and anyone else who struggles with self image. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_5jIt0f5Z4
The next video that I chose may be a little obvious but it was the first one that came to mind. “Independent Women,” by Destiny’s Child was a very empowering video for me even back in grade school. I remember being in about the 8th grade when this song came out and the lyrics were actually something that I aspired to achieve. It sends a message that being a strong, independent woman is a good thing and something to be proud of. Women should find their self worth in themselves not in a man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lPQZni7I18

  4. After watching the videos in this past weeks class made me realize how women are portrayed to be very sexual in the videos, especially in the genre of rap and hip hop. To "flip the scripts" of hetero masculine dominance shown in the music videos is done by men being very easily attracted to the skinny women who flaunt provocitive dance moves to impress men. It is sad to see these women be paid to do this, because after watching these I noticed how if a mans expressions were mad or upset, a woman would sexually come and dance on him to make him happy.
Relating these to re appropriation and counter appropriation is by these scandalous videos having an impact on young women who may think if they dance like a slut they will find their dream man, and this in turn is why women have made a mark for themselves in the rap music industry. With all this being said, over the years female rappers use powerful lyrics to try and dispute gender roles in our society and they are trying to promote our importance of being treated equally with males.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9W0QZddEZ0&playnext=1&list=PLC427D5FF2A8CB3D4
This video seeks to further understand the consequences of excluding men from women’s empowerment programs by examining the levels of women’s empowerment and attitudes to empowerment; expressed through the male viewpoint. After watching I like how she goes into detail about how women should be treated just as equally. Just because women are constantly fighting about wanting more power, men need to understand that its not about being in a competition with them it is more to the idea that women want to be able to have some of the same powers that men do.

  5. The videos talked about in the readings from this week weren't surprising to me because I have also been seeing them on TV and the internet for a very long time. The readings also talked about women rappers that have turned the tables so that the males are the dominant ones and the ones who are sex driven. They totally took over those roles even though they are females. In these videos the women portray that they are the ones that are in charge and have the power. I think that our own society is the reason why this kind of music and videos is still being supported because it is obviously selling and people like watching these videos and hearing this kind of music so why stop it now? The music industry is getting money from these videos and they are popular in today's society. These kind of videos that are being presented today are never going to change because it is so popular.
In Beyonce’s “Video Phone” music video featuring Lady Gaga, empowerment is very heavily shown. It begins with Beyonce in a very seductive outfit surrounded by 5 men in business suits. Right away, the message being conveyed is that they are successful and she is just an item to them. Throughout the entire video, Beyonce dances in a very sexual manner to attract the viewers and the men are dancing but it’s almost as if they are dancing with authority. They stare at her body as if she is a toy that they control. This shows that women are not in control and will confine to whatever the man figure wants to have or see.

  6. I felt that the Dreamworlds videos were disturbing because they show all the ways that women are mistreated in our society today and its absurd. I wasn't completely aware that women still really go through all of this everyday. I grew up in a somewhat nice community and went to a catholic school where i never really saw this treatment towards women very often. The only sexism i saw was at parties, seeing how girls are dressed, and hearing what my friends have to say about them. Otherwise, i didn't often witness women become offended by men in very insulting ways. These videos really portray male entitlement and shows how men interact with women inappropriately in public because of the way they look or are dressed.
I believe to flip the scripts would mean for women to treat men the way that they are treated. I don’t know if this would ever be possible just because of how far we have come, but it would be interesting. This week’s readings and videos relate to re-appropriation and counter-appropriation because they demonstrate men, oppressing certain groups of women and calling them names they wouldn’t want to hear. I think we have the power to set the norms for our music industry, but once again, we’ve come so far that its not likely that it could change completely. The way that women are portrayed may not be appropriate, but it seems like the women in these videos chooses to be who they are. Of course some women are forced to act sexual without consent, but many of them do it because they either enjoy it or like the attention. I still don’t think its fair for this to be occurring in our modern society though.
Like I said, the Dreamworlds videos were disturbing and showed how women struggle to gain power over men in our society today. There are several examples of this in these videos and it very surprising to see how bad it really is in some parts of our nation. I felt bad for the women in the videos, especially because I don’t see myself ever treating women like this. Women deserve a chance to prove themselves instead of being put down everyday for being themselves. It crazy that women can’t dress however they want and not expect to hear rude remarks from the men in our world.
I also watched Beyonce and Lady Gaga’s “Video Phone” music video. It was definitely creative but definitely revealing. It’s shows that women choose to express who they are, even sexually, and not care what other think of them. Beyonce and Gaga show a lot of skin, dance sexually, and act promiscuous in their video. Exactly what a man wants to see right? It seems as though women have no control over how they should act for men, but the women in this video choose to act the way they do. If they didn’t want to act like it, they wouldn’t be in the video. Its that simple. Of course women may feel that they are obligated to satisfy men, but if they want to be treated with respect, it would help if they stopped exposing themselves in videos like this.

I agree with what you said about flipping the script, and your approach to changing how men treat women. Men should stand up for women in their time of struggle.

I completely agree with what you said about the Beyonce and Lady Gaga video. The women in the video do seem like an item to men and this does need to change.

  10. Flipping the script in society would put the man in the women’s position in society and put the women in the man’s position. In other words the woman would be viewed as the dominant sex and the man would be viewed at as an object to please her. When it comes to setting patterns of representation in the music industry I feel that the power is equally held by both men and women. Men should stand up and say I don’t want the women in this video doing these dances or wearing these clothes. The men should demand to have the women viewed in many different aspects and not just as sex symbols. Women need to stand up for themselves and say no matter how much money your offering I refuse to dance like that and wear these clothes. If every video vixen started refusing to work until they can be viewed the way they want to then the music industry would have no choice but to succumb to their demands.
I feel that the problem is not just that men want to be dominate over women and portray that in their videos. I feel as if a lot of women like being seen as sexy and take pleasure in the fact that millions of men view these videos wishing that they could be with these women. Sex is power a woman can get a man to do anything but dangling the idea of sex in front of him. So these women have a position of power and I feel that the realize it and enjoy it. To many young girls want to go into this career and its not just because of the money its because of the attention and power that comes with it.
The first video I chose was Milkshake by Kelis. In this video Kelis is in a restaurant and all the men in the restaurant are just memorized by her beauty. It doesn’t matter what the man is doin whether it being cooking or with his girlfriend they just can’t help but stare at her. This video shows a woman Kelis asserting her power over men. When she walked into the room to every man its as if everything else didn’t matter and she was the only person their. The lyrics to the song also show you how she is using her power over men and enjoying it. “My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard” this is a sexual phrase either describing her breast or her butt I don’t know which one exactly. That line proves that she knows she has a power over men and it pleases her, in the song she also says “I can teach you but I have to charge” implying that women use the idea of sex and their bodies to earn money. This video definitely represents an empowered woman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGL2rytTraA
The second video I chose was Irreplaceable by Beyonce. In this video beyonce portrays a woman that has caught her man cheating and now she’s demanding a break up. They live together and instead of her packing up and leaving she is kicking him out of the house that she bought and she also takes back the car that she gave him. Beyonce is in regular clothes and she doesn’t do one provocative dance the entire video. She is an independent woman that is actually providing for her man. She breaks traditional standards by showing the man that he can be replaced and that she doesn’t need him to be happy. She doesn’t cry or seem in any way emotionally destroyed by losing him showing how empowered and confident she is in herself. This video breaks down every wall place by society involving a relationship between a man and a woman. An empowered Beyonce shows how dominate a woman really can be in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EwViQxSJJQ

  11. During this week’s class, the videos that were shown were very harsh towards women. To describe “flip the script” of hetero-masculine sexual dominance means that we as women sometimes put ourselves in a dominant position for sex over men. For example we as women are shown in the videos to be sex symbols and we do whatever the man will say. If a man has a certain expression on their face, we as women will do whatever they want to make them happy.

This also relates to re-appropriation and counter-appropriation when we see and describe a women as sexually dominating we categorize her as a ”whore” or a “slut”. These sexual videos might then have an impact on the other girls that watch them. They might turn into something they see on television because they notice in the videos that guys are always all over people who are half naked and dancing all over a guy. Performers/artists in the music industry have the power to set the patterns for dominant forms of representation in the music industry because they are the ones performing their songs to the world. Yet most of these artists tend to show and sing about what they like and enjoy, not what is right.

The first video I chose was Come on Over Baby by Christina Aguilera. She is shown in her video dancing all over guys, telling them to come over, she likes when he puts hands on her. She is using her body language and messages to show she likes when guys touch her. She is asserting her power over men showing she wants them to come over, yet the man isn’t the one demanding he do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RQDIJ2CvbA.

The second video I chose was Check On It by Beyonce. The whole time she is talking about a guy checking on her body but that it is ok, “If you got it flaunt it, boy I know you want it.” Even though this might not be a good thing to sing about, this is okay with her that guys look at her body because she has a good body so she wants guys to notice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1dUDzBdnmI.

  12. @Jasmine I agree that "Independent Woman" really says a lot about how a woman should be. It is a great thing they sing about this because it teaches woman to be themselves and not have someone control them all the time like men are known to do.

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Ambre I think that the video you decided to talk about was very creative. It is always a good thing for women to flaunt what they have in their mind and be known for that but not be distinguished by their body.

  14. The phrase "flip the script" in the sense of hetero-masculine sexual dominance can now be seen more than ever. Just look at the destiny child's video solider as the women are out on the prowl for men. The people who have the most power and dominate the music industry are those who stick out the most. When you look at artist like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj their styles have a lot in common. Yet they all are very different which makes them one of a kind.

The video that I find most empowering to men and women is R.Kelly The world's greatest. It isn't bias to either side, yet it still gives inspiration to both sides. Another video that empowers women is Pretty Girl Rock by Keri Hilson. In each scene she plays the role of women who has influenced the music industry, from Janet, to T-Boz, and Mary J. Music would not be where it today if if weren't for these women and they didn't have to degrade themselves to do it.

  15. @kevin I fully feel where you are comming fun, and i feel the same way women shouldn't have to dress a certain way to be seen as a "hoe" or something else of that sort.

  16. @Kim I like the last example you gave, Beyonce shows she wanted to show her body off because she knows she looks good

  17. @Kevin. i am the same way as you i was not used to seeing such images because of the way i was raised. I was very unaware of to what extent the videos were degrading to women

  18. After watching music videos and the movie Dreamworlds in class, my eyes have been opened to a new part of the entertainment industry that apparently I have been unaware of for a long time. I know that it has always been said that sex sells, but i was unaware of to what extent the entertainment industry. To "flip the scripts" of hetero masculine dominance sexuality means that women are taking control of the sexual dominance side like in those movies. It means that women are becoming sex symbols in the media out of their own will.

The video i think thats most empowering to women is "just the way you are" by bruno mars. While the girl in the video is beautiful, bruno is telling her she is perfect just the way she is. She is fully clothed and not doing anything really provacative. I think it sends a positive message about how men can treat women positively

    ReplyDelete
  19. After watching the videos this week it has made me realize how they exploit women's bodies to the extreme that they do. To "flip the script" would be to reverse the roles. It would be to give women the dominance over men, have women exploit men for their bodies, and have women being in control. This refers to re-appropriation and counter-appropriation because if the script was flipped women would be called bad things for taking over mens roles. We have to change society's view of women being under men and being submissive. I think the responsibility is on both women and men to change this. Men do not need to expect women to be inferior to them, and to be there only for their pleasure. Women also need to stand uo for themselves, and not need to let themselves be out into those types of situations. We have to change the portrayal of women in the media, because video girls do not paint a true picture of the average women in our country.

This also needs to change because some young girls see this and think that they need to act or dress the way the girls do in the video to get male attention. It gives them the wrong idea about relationships with males. It may make think that they are only there to pleasure men and if they do not give them the pleasure they want, they will never get anyone. It gives young girls the wrong idea of what they sould be as women. It also influences young boys in the same way as it gives them an idea of how to treat women. I think the artist who are making these videos have the power to change the dominant patterns in music videos. If the artists started making videos that were interesting or had menaing, other than girls half naked dancing around, it would have an impact. I think society also plays a role in this, because people need to change what they expect out of these videos.

I think a video that is empowering for women is "gunpowder and lead" by miranda lambert. The song is about a woman who has been abused in her relationship, and she is finally standing up for herself. I think another video that is empowering for women that is sung by a male artist is "Miss independent" by Ne-Yo because he is singing about liking a women because she is independent, and is not dependent on him. This video does feature many beutiful women, but they aren't dancing around in bikinis. The lead women is portrayed as being a smart, hardworking, bussiness women. The artist is commending her for being strong like she is. Therefore it is empowering to both men and women.

Female artists are using their music to stand up for theirselves. They show that they are strong, and that they are not submissive to men. On the other hand, some female artsits conform to what the music industry is now, and how they think they need to be, which is seductive and sexy. Female artists also need to make a change in their videos to change the way women are viewed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. In my eyes, flipping the script could mean when women will use what men have usually used against them. For instance, female singers could get seductive in their music videos to lure men to them or to show men what they cant have. The people that has the power to set patterns in the music industry would be the big names in the industry like lady gaga, beyonce, lil wayne, nikki manj and etc. Alot of people look up to them and follows their lead.

A video i found to be enpowering to both men and women would be michael jackson's hold my hand. Nobody is being degraded in this video. In this video, the message is that you can count on a person to hold your hand no matter what the situation is or who you are. Man or woman. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oCCnxBos10)Women now are using their videos to put themselves in control. Like Keri Hilson's video, "Pretty Girl Rock", they are now showing that they are more than what men degrade them to be and have more confidence in themselves.

  24. What I saw in Dreamworlds 3 made me sick and it was very hard to watch. It's not like I wasn't aware of anything that was discussed in Dreamworlds 3, but I don't think it has ever been presented to me so directly, honestly, and in such detail with graphic images. I think that Dreamworlds 3 is something everyone should have to watch, as it was very eye opening. I left class disgusted in what I watch on tv, hear on the radio, and see around me in every day life.

In order to "flip the script," women would have to take control over men and show that they are not okay with being seen as only an object of male sexual desire, that they are worth more and won't accept anything less than what they feel they deserve. This relates to re-appropriation because women are often judged by what they are wearing or how they look and then given a label based off that. Even if a woman is dressed up and going out with her girlfriends with no intentions of getting with a guy at all, if they see she's dressed up and looking nice, men automatically assume it's because she is looking for attention from males and label her as a "whore," "slut," or "hoe," regardless of the fact that the woman has no interest in getting with a man that night, as she is having a girl's night and wants to spend time with her friends. One thing that really bothered me was the male entitlement, how some men feel that they are entitled to get whatever they want, or that women owe it to men, none of which is true. In order to change that, I think women need to start to really stand up for themselves and not take any crap, or think it is acceptable to be treated like crap. They need to realize they are worth more than that if any real progress is to be made.

I really like the video for "Man I Feel Like A Woman" by Shania Twain. In the video she is dressed in menswear with a tie and a hat and her band is all men. She talks about how much fun it is to be a woman and feeling free to do whatever she wants. It's a great song that leaves women feeling liberated and free to do whatever they please and not feel restrained to do anything men say they have to. Shania Twain takes control and shows that she is confident with taking on a strong stance as a woman and shows that she wants other women to do that also.

  25. After watching the video, "Dreamworlds" it made me realize that everything that was said and displayed really does happen in our society whether women like to hear or not. Even though we were already aware of that scenario, it still is an issue where men feel like they are more dominant over women and can say and do things to women because they are not higher on the hierarchy level as them. With that being said, the hip hop videos or music videos in general does not help out either being that a lot of songs are geared towards doing things to women sexually, but yet humans still listen to it. The term "flip the scripts" in my opinion would basically mean the opposite of the norm in society such as that women would be more on the dominant level over men, and men would be treated as women are today.
I feel that saying who has the power to set the standards would be using broad terms because it is already too deep into society on how women are portrayed as being. It would take men to realize the fact that women are on the same level as them because women are just as human too, but it would also take women to learn to not back down and stand up for their rights as an individual. This relates to re-appropriation and counter-appropriation by how women were viewed in the past, as being the house-wife to cook, take care of the children, and doing things around the house to where they couldn’t leave, and men were able to get out and work. Back in the day, women did not have as many rights as men and were not treated fairly, and some of that scenario has continued on to today’s world where women are still viewed as having the housewife label and looked down upon.

  26. The song by Britney Spears, “Stronger” is an old song back in the day girls listened too or still do, but it is talking about how Britney says that she is not someone else’s property anymore by becoming stronger to her will which hints the title. The lyrics also say that she is stronger than yesterday, and has moved on from the past, and is not going to let her loneliness get to her anymore. This song is portraying the message of women should be strong and independent, and not let men get to them in some kind of way. It is also trying to prove to young girls that women can be strong and move on from the past, by not being put down even if something went wrong with a guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJWtLf4-WWs

The song by Martina McBride, “This one is for the Girls” talks about different age groups and what those girls within that age group deal with in the scheme of life such as being twenty-five, and facing living in an apartment by herself and wondering where life is going to take them. Martina’s message she is trying to get across to young girls is to keep their head high and keep going forward in life and not let different obstacles get in the way and degrade their confidence level. She mentions girls are beautiful in every kind of way no matter what the situation is, and not let things put them down. This song is a confidence booster for every girl to help them in difficult situations realize that life goes on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTowId2CWHA

  27. In this weeks class we watch a video that put women in a negative light. It basically showed how men have the upper hand in most situations, especially in the music industry. In music videos, men use womens bodies as show pieces and as a way to attract more male audiences. These artists do not care that after the women leave the set they are then classified as a “video ho.” What I think “Flipping the Scripts of hetero-masculine sexual dominance” means would be putting the man in the position that women have to deal with. Instead of women dancing in skimpy clothing in the background of a music video, why not have the men in the background dancing? That would be very funny in my opinion. It would also turn the tables and make the men feel uncomfortable. Im sure men would then understand what kind of uncomfortable situations they place women in.
The people who have the power for dominant forms of representation in the music industry would be the music producers or the people in charge of creating music videos. These people should not allow women to be viewed in such clothing, or should not place men in power situations and women in weak situations. It is disgusting how they use the womens bodies to advertise and promote their music and it should no longer be tolerated.

The video I choose to demonstrate women empowerment is Janis Joplins Piece of my heart. Janis Joplin was a very strong woman who never allowed the man to control her. In this video we can see that she is in the lead spot. She is the lead singer, and she has men playing her back up music. Most of her messages are about women being strong. Janis has always stood for womens rights and shows us that women can be just as good as men. In her video she is wearing very modest clothing, showing us that music is not about being sexy, it is about the meaning behind the songs. If modern female singers would use Janis as a form of inspiration our world would probably be a much better place. Females would not always get the short end of the stick.

  28. @Rod- I think it is very funny that you describe flipping the scripts where the man would be viewed at as an object to please her. Very funny! I wish this is how our world really was!

  29. @Catrina- I think it would be a very good idea to have men in the videos dancing and degrading themselves. I think they should see how it feels to be viewed purely as a sex object. Maybe then they would chage how they chose to portray women in their vidoes.

  30. To flip the script would basically mean, put women in the position of a man, or a position of power, and vice versa. Artist, visionaries, lyricist, and directors create the images the world sees. I hate to say it, but it would look a little "off" to see a woman in a music video with men crawling all over her, just picture that, but it has been done.
I know one place this has been done is Christina Milian's music video "Dip it Low". throughout the entire video, she has men all over her, despite the video having her dressed in lingerie and the lyrics being about how to please your man, this video does show a woman in a position of power bc she uses men carrying her as a form of transport. Lady Gaga's Love Games music video also appears to have her in a position of power, but at the same time the sex appeal is still there to draw the crown...its REALLY there. and the gist of what what her lyrics are saying is demanding sex from a man. Its rare to find a video where a woman isnt showing off her sexy, fact is sex sells.

  31. @Jasmine Curlee... I agree with what you said about how watching the footage on the parage in New York was an eye opener on what really goes on in the real world.

  32. @Skye Robinson... I like how you chose the song "Gunpowder and Lead" by Miranda Lambert because it proves to women to believe and have confidence in themselves.
