These children have learned the roles of females and males through their parents. They have always been dressed by their parents and know what type of clothing is for girls or boys. They also can observe that their mom is cleaning the house or taking care of them more than their father, because most of the time he is at work.
I believe that the children's response to the questions asked were learned from the media rather than their actual parents. You just don't see many moms today that absolutely do not work. Theres no way that each and every child had the stereotypical parents (not saying it isnt possible). But those roles to me just seem so 1950s.
